In development since 1997, “Love Never Dies” is set to open in London on March 9, 2010.

Andrew Lloyd Webber wrote the score, as he did for the Phantom; it remains to be seen whether he has matched his huge success with “Phantom”, which is still running in London after 24 years, and the longest-running show in the history of Broadway.

Canadian actor Ramin Karimloo, who also performed as the Phantom for two years in the West End, plays the title role. Sierra Boggess is Christine; she also played that role in the Las Vegas Spectacular premier of “The Phantom” in 2007, and starred in “The Little Mermaid” on Broadway.

“Love Never Dies” is directed by American Jack O’Brien and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell; both are currently doing their respective jobs on the set of “Hairspray” in the West End. Bob Crowley, winner of five Tony Awards, designed the sets and costumes; a challenging task of creating the Phantom’s eerie but beautiful setting with a roller coaster instead of a chandelier as a prop.

Anticipation and expectations are high, and a lot of talent has gone into this ambitious sequel. The creators and producers of the show are hoping that “Love Never Dies” will captivate audiences as “The Phantom” has, and the words of the title are really true.
